to tow a camper and hold the family.

I love my Ranger, but it just wasn't up to the task.

So, I got this

2000 Super Duty, V10, 5 speed, manual hubs, manual t-case. Should pull a 6500lb camper without too much drama

This pic doesn't really show the size differential.

First thing I'm doing is removing the 8" lift and 37" Hummer tires.

It's getting stock springs + leveling kit and 315's this Saturday.

In a few weeks ol' true blue will be up for sale. Great truck, just needed more room inside.

Why the F*** would you take off the lift and 37's? Its a pwoerstroke right? It can handle them and the trailer just fine. Nvm just saw the v-10. But theres enough torque in the triton to do the same thing, just not the mileage. Good upgrade though. Cant say i would sell ol' blue.

Ooooooooooooooooo! 5-speed! I like you new truck already!!!!

6,500 lbs will child's play with that thing. You know, you might be able to get a bigger camper now that you have a bigger truck.

What are you going to do with the lift?
Sell it?

Taking off the lift because if I do get a bigger camper it would likely be a fifth wheel, and with that lift, the rear bumper of the camper would drag :icon_twisted:

Plus it will be more stable with the lowered COG.

And plus plus, the wife complains about having to jump to get in. I tell her it keeps the fat chicks out :headbang:

And concerning the lift, it is a Skyjacker with triple front shocks. I'm trading everything even to a Super Duty tech who is going to do all the labor.

Good deal for him 'cause he's getting a $1500+ suspension for just his labor, good for me 'cause I'm getting what I really want without having to wrench it myself.

Time to invest in an in-bed gas tank........ I hope you aren't traveling far. No way I'd lose the lift, just put semi wheels on the camper, but I would get more aggressive tires.

Everyone loves the lift! :icon_thumby:

When I first drove it home and told my sons what I was going to do, my 12 year old quietly says, "Do you think we could drive it around like that for a while?" :icon_rofl:

The lift is nice to look at, not so nice to live with. The truck is 7' 8" tall.

how much you sellin the ranger for?

Hi:
I would keep the Ranger for DD and use the larger truck as necessary for the camper, shopping with the family, etc.
I have a 2001 Ranger, extra cab and a 2004 Superduty 250 Diesel. The 2004 has about 65000 miles and the Ranger has 110,000. Both run perfect and the right truck is used for the right job. Also if a problem developes it sure is nice to have the second vehicle you can count on!

Just my .02

Ron V :) :) :)

It would be 10 times the tow rig without the lift, I would ditch it and never look back.

I have 5 vehicles including the Super Duty (was 6 but I sold the Camaro SS).

I am looking to trim the fleet to the bare minimum. 4 vehicles will be just right (truck, wife's SUV, 35+ mpg commuter, and my FSB for a toy)

That much lift and tire looks stupid on a truck. a 3-4" lift and 35's is much more reasonable.

If it's a daily driver there's no reason to lift it much more than 2-3". Better driveline angles, lower COG, and stopping is going to be easier too with smaller tires.

Good call on lowering it.
