so i was trying to set up the gasless fluxcore tip in my tig this afternoon and i am getting really frusterated. the welder has this stupid hose with a copper thing on the end of it and i cant get the welding stick to stay in there. i asked my dad and he told me that i have to get the welding rod to stay in cause the gas kept shooting it out. stupid mastercraft mig welder. i figure if i just pour the shield gas onto the top of the metal that i am going to weld then the stick in the 1285 rod i am using and hold the rod so it wont fall out of my mig gun when i hit the foot pedal to light the oxyagen before the acetalyne. cause i know that i have to mix the oxy-acetalyne at about %25 with the argon bottle before i can pour it into funnel on the top of the tig gun... should work out alright when i hook the alternator to the air compressor to boost the gas pressure.... i havent used a welder before and mine didnt come with instructions so i am kinda wingin it here and could use some advice. also what about ventalation? doesnt welding give off harmful gases? i have all of this set up in my garage and wondering beause its attached to my house could this possibly make me and my family sick? thanks for you help.

STOP EVERYTHING!!!!!

Go talk to a welder and get your shit straightened out.

you dont use oxygen or acetalyne as a shielding gas. both are very reactive. you use an inert gas like argon or carbon dioxide.

Fluxcore welding is different from Mig welding which is different from Tig welding which is different from Stick welding which is different from Torch welding. Dont try to mix and match this shit. You will get hurt.

I really hope your trying to be funny.
If you are serious, you should just give up and have someone else weld everything for you.
Good luck

I doubt anybody will be getting sick from the amount of welding you will be able to do. Somebody might get burned as they escape from your now on fire house. I really dont think you should be welding in an attached garage. Not until you have received some training and gained some experience in a a safe environment.

Sorry I can't help you with the fluxcore issue, I'm far more experienced with stick. And i'm unclear on what your doing, but I'm not sure why your useing an air compressor.... Oxygen = the crappiest weld ever. thats why you have flux/shielding gas. To keep oxygen out of the equation.

any way you look at it you cant mix the 4 different processes.. flux core weidling is for mig only. oxygen/acetylene is used to cut or torch weld. any sort of tig welding is mostly done with straight argon an mig welding is usually dont with co2 or co2/argon. stick welding theirs no need for a bottle of gas since the flux is already on the rod. again from what you stated i hope your trying to be funny but if not stay away from this stuff an have some one else do it for you..

Hey anyone who mentions mastercraft and welder in the same sentence deserves to be called a retard! Sorry butt that's the rules.

You missed the part where i didnt write that............. it was copied from another forum

haha some of these responses are priceless. i hope whoever origpnaly posted that never tried any of that sheit. The 1285 rod in the tip of the mastercraft mig welder while using the Oxy/Actetalyne and 25% Argon mix is a good one.. OH and remember! you have to Hold the rod in the tip of the mig welder while you weld.. or the gas will shoot it out.:haha::nono:

Who would even attempt this?
:badidea:

Very glad it was a joke!
