welding on truck

So I am ready to weld on my truck what do I need to unplug electrical wise the battery what else? The tech pages say unplug the modules ? What modules where they at?

btw I am welding on my flowmaster 40 delta series

You're supposed to unhook the neg battery cable. I weld on my rigs all the time without doing it, the important thing is keeping you ground close to your work, because if you weld on your exhaust and hook the ground to your frame, the electricity must then flow a much further distance to reach the ground, over that distance who know what wires it will try to take.

When i did the air ride job on the 01 ranger, i just removed the bat. didnt unplug anything really.

If you keep your ground as close as possible to the part you are welding you will be ok.

....Not only close but on a connecting piece of metal that what you are welding too...like Hahn's said...you dont want the circuit to complete through a 22awg wire.

Thanks guys yeah it would be really dumb to put ground clamp on your front bumper and weld on the rear of the truck. HAHAHA sure some dumb fool has done it. Speaking hypothetically couldn't it mess up engine components ie. main bearings or internal tranny parts. But in all seriousness thanks guys your experience is greatly appreciated.
