Hey
I am currently in the process of doing the 8.8 swap, and i was wondering if there are any must knows to welding on axle houseing and spring purches and such, because isn't it cast?
i know how to place everything, i just want to make sure the welds are going to hold up
so is there a technique for it, pre heating or anything?
thanks

for what ive read u have to do it like one inch, and let cool down, another inch, and cool down again
check the tech library for more info

Nothing special about welding the perches on. The tubes are just mild steel. The center section is cast steel, not iron and can be welded to as well with proper prep and practice (using a high nickle welding rod and letting it cool slowly) You can weld the perches to the tubes with regular solid mig wire and gas or flux core.
