had more bad luck today with the ranger. was on my way out to camp hit the brakes and heard a thud and sum grinding. i got out to find that one of the bolts holding my caliper bracket backed out and the other was darn close. this caused the caliper to kick out and put a gash all the way around the inner part of my rim cracking it in a few spots. should i even attempt to try welding the crackes and if so will this affect the integrity of the rim at all? a friend had a rim crack on him and he managed to seal it with jb weld but that would make me leary knowing all thats keeping air in my tire is a smear of epoxy.

Just replace it, you shouldnt weld a cracked wheel, unless its just a wheeler and doesnt see street time. To many bad things could happen if it were to come apart on the street.

Replace the rim, will be way safer and much cheaper...

If that rim ever failed at hwy speeds the out comes would not be good

it should be able to be welded, but i wouldnt try it myself. if you want to take that route, check with a local wheel shop. it may be cheaper to get a new/used wheel than trying to have that one fixed.

decided to order the replacement rim found a 16" polished to match what on it now for $70 thats including $15 for shipping
