I have rusted body mounts, the ones under radiator core support. I was wondering if anyone on this site from MA, or Southern NH can possibly weld on some body mounts? Maybe someone could use the money and same time save me shop prices? I don't trust shops around me. Ive only ran into scams.
If you are near and could help me out pm or post and let me know what you'd want for something like that. I'd rip front end apart so you'd have no prob getting to area.

Bump for the hope...

it shouldnt be too expensive to take it into a shop and get it done. go find "bob's muffler shop" or some other shadytree place like that, let them know what you want and see what they can do for you.

i have a welder if you wanna come way down south lol

Lol if I was still at FT. Bragg... I know a muff shop by me but figured they'd be like we only do muffs.. Lou's Custom Exhaust. They did do my whole exhaust minus the cats for 220.

man if you were still at bragg, i'd ride down to fayet-nam and weld up whatever you needed in exchange for you sneaking me onto a 1000 yard shooting range, lol

but yeah, anyways, before i bought my welder, i made friends with a local meineke muffler shop. i made some custom exhaust pieces for my B2 and had them weld that up for me. they were gonna weld some gussets onto my lift brackets for me, but i decided to bite the bullet and get a welder.

when someone knows you by name, they're much more likely to help you out

Ya, I wanna learn to weld, with full-time college it's hard to. Maybe I can talk to unemployment place, they have those "American training" vans I always see going to people houses and someone told me they teach it... With an apartment I'm limited to what I can do on my own without complaints. Our landlord, well that's a diff story let's just say I wouldn't break a sweat if she tripped in the driveway...

maybe you could sneak a course on welding in there?

they didnt teach it when i was at auburn, but we had a badass lincoln electric in the shop. one day the shop teacher gave me (literally) a 2 minute intro on welding and i went from there. the rest i've figured out myself.

if you live in an apartment, it sounds like the only way to get it done is to find yourself a buddy.....that is, unless someone else on here chimes in

I go to ITT tech so no welding classes. Lol

well shit man, just shoot down ALL my suggestions! lol

good luck with it!

Theres 2 ways to repair the frame mounts for the core support, if the tops of the mounts are rusted through you can cut out plate and weld it back in or you can cut them off completely and make new ones. As far as the rusty core support bottoms go, you can replace the whole core support which is a big job or you can cut out all the rust and patch in new metal for the body bolt to pass through.

I know it'll be a big job. I planned on getting a new core support as I know mine is kinda bent and I got new light support and grille for infront of it. I just need the body mounts done and I can play take apart and put back together... I hate self tapping screws only because I've never worked with them and avoid them. I don't know how many I'd have to deal with if any... They sold my motorcycle before I got their like 2 days ago to auction even though 5 days ago I emailed them I wanted it. Hate when auto sales places don't keep their online inventory current.

Changing the core support is going to involve drilling quite a few spot welds out so that you can separate it from the inner fenders. i welded my new one back in place using the holes that were drilled in the inner fenders when i removed the old core. ive also seen people use bolts and large metal screws, but i cant attest to their longevity.
