if i weld the spider gears up on a limited slip rear will it work or still slip, i ask a lot of ppl i know and i got both yes and no answers i am not sure

id would say if you weld the spider gears in ANYTHING then it would be come locked..

No, welding the spider gears is the same as installing a full time locker, they won't slip at all. limited slip is just fine, you don't need to weld them they will spin both tires under enough torque.

wow i had to reread the post.. if you weld up the spiders then you are locking your rear end an both tires are going to spin the same ALL the time.. one wont slip like a limited slip... if its a daily driver i wouldn't recommend welding them up..

Limited slips are glorified open diffs.

A GOOD and TIGHTLY packed limited slip HELPS but is no replacement for a locker/spool/welded diff.

I don't know, My trac lock work really well, both tires turn when they need the traction. and I don't know if they have ever been rebuilt/replaced.

thanks for the help, it actually is for another project i am doing its a 85 fullsize dodge, strictly mountain truck, but the discs must be worn cuz it barely works

I would get a different spider setup and then weld it. Why waste a limited slip when I know there's people out there looking for one to get.

The clutch disks are easy to replace...

Hmm... I just re-read your above post. I don't know jack about how in demand L/S diffs are for fullsize pickups...
