I recently changed the rear main seal in my ranger during a full engine re-build and to my dismay, it leaked. At first the leak was so bad that it actually puddled in my bell housing because I was tuning my carb for a while while parked facing up on a small incline. Once I faced down when I drove away I left a decent oil streak on the road.
I've since put a few miles on the truck, and I no longer see a drip at the bottom of the bell housing; the area seems to be drying up some. I'm not complaining, but what gives?
