10 days ago, i turned 10k miles on the rebuilt motor i bought. right before then as well as after, i noticed the sound of the engine was more throaty and the exhaust note became deeper. also, my gas mileage started steadily climbing and the engine is running cooler. it doesnt seem to have any more power, so im wondering if the rebuilder installed chrome rings and they just finally seated ? this past weekend, i also changed all of the battery cables, which might have *some* effect on the mileage. my mileage went from an average of 15.5 MPG city to practically 16.6 MPG city over night. and my mileage is still climbing, with city at 17.1 MPG and highway at 20.9 MPG

anyone got any ideas on why its taken 10K for this motor to get broken in ?

its either the rings seating or its about to blow up lol.

TIA,
Dale

changing the battery cables could be now allowing correct voltages to key areas so the management systems/sensors are reading correctly??? just a thought.

if your getting better MPG....shhh...don't question it. just enjoy

doubt that the rings would take that long to seat.
