Hi ,I have a 2006 Ranger ex cab , 2 door , 5 speed auto,4x4 and i need to know what the gross curb weight is. Does anyone here know,i can't find it on the truck or in the manual.
It tends to vary on configuration. Easiest way is to find a supply yard with a scale or a DOT weigh station and ask to get on the scale. DOT scales are likely to be the most accurate, but if you hit up a couple places you can get a workable number. A lot of scrap yards also have scales.
I just noticed that you're in Baden, I used to spend a TON of time down there! Welcome to TRS!
Not sure who all has scales around there, but Cranberry Supply in Cranberry has a scale along with any of the PJ Greco scrap yards. There's also a landscape supply yard up here in Butler (right on RT-8 by Conley's Resort Inn) that has a scale.
Thanks for the info,
yes i am living in Baden and have been for most of my life. Right now i am staying in a campground in slippery rock. I need the gcw for the state because of an enhanced inspection i had to put the truck through because of an R title from Texas. It has been a real pain in the butt. I finally have a PA inspection and my truck plates on though.
Yea, enhanced inspections can be a pain. I got lucky when I bought my one truck from the jaws of a junkyard crusher.... almost literally. Since they got it in and it went right to the crusher cue, the yard didn't officially own the truck, so I went back to the owner who sent it to the yard and was able to get a clean title. Seems the guy hit a deer and the shock knocked loose the crimp-on splices hold the fuel pump wiring together. The guy junked the truck rather than fix it. Couple dabs of solder and I had it going. Wish I wouldn't have sold it though.
I have went as far as going to the dealer to get information. I took in the vin and received a print out on the specs of the truck. I don't know if this helps or not.
Theres a lumber yard around here where you can just drive on their scale whenever and use it quite fun, technically there are no trespassing signs but its only illegal when you get caught, plus they don't close the gate ever. If you live in a hicksville sort of town im sure theres something similar around you.
ive used the local grain elevator scales, there never turned off, the display is visable through the window, and as long as its after hours or theres not a line of grain trucks/wagons waiting, nobody cares. mine weighs in at 4,300 pounds.
I frequent scrap yards and always get an empty weight after I off load...it's pretty consistent at 3400 lbs...but I also carry about 200 lbs worth of tools and other crap...plus I'm in the cab so you have to deduct your body weight...so that leaves my truck at about 3000 lbs...
So if you do the weigh scale...go empty and subtract your body weight...
