Any one have any experience with a Weiand supercharger? Preferably on a SBF but in general is okay, too. I was looking at this because sometime down the road in about a year or so I would like to pull my 306ci in favor of a 331 stroker. Since I will have the engine on the stand, I would like to try my hand at forced induction. I guess I'm just debating between a high compression 331 stroker or a lower compression supercharged 331. I plan on running a set of Twisted Wedge heads since I will be purchasing new pistons, I will find some with the valve reliefs for the TFS heads. Also, what compression would be optimal for 7-8psi?

Some of the Criteria are:
-Able to run on 91-93 octane
-Turn 6500rpm (This is what my 306ci turns now and I like it a lot)
-I will be boxing in the frame and possibly a 6 point role cage, would the ranger frame handle the torque?
-I would like to keep my torque converter (2700rpm with 306ci)
-I run a Lentech AOD with a 4.30:1 axle. Would I need to drop down to 3.73 or lower because of the superchargers torque?

I've been tossing the idea of a 351w stroker (400+cid) but I love the way the 306 sits in there so neatly. And, who knows what gas prices will be like in a year or two when I get it back on the road.

-I would like to keep my torque converter (2700rpm with 306ci) depends but probabaly

I didn't know the ranger frame could handle a bigblock. Thats impressive. I read up that its not recommended to push the ranger over 400rwhp in stock form. The torque converter is a nice unit, with an anti-ballooning plate in case I decide to squirt it. There are a couple of gas stations around here that sell pure 93 octane fuel (no ethanol). Doing a little research on the compression, I could get away with 8.6:1 with the supercharger blowing 7-8psi. Also, the aluminum heads would greatly reduce detonation compared to a cast iron head.

Just curious, what are the Ranger's weak points when there are big torque numbers?

frame twisting is the biggest problem. while they can handle it it isnt recomended with out some bracing. how long they handle it is the real question.
