I just had the clutch replaced on my 89 4x4 ext cab ranger with a 2.9 auto 4x4 and ther is alot of play in the clutch pedal. what can i do to get more clutch pressure im not framiliar with it and had it done by someone that i had to fight with to get the truck back so i cant ask him what has been done. i know there was a new clutch put in bc i bought it and it moves now would just like to get less play and more pressure any advice would be great.

thank you

Gonna assume you meant a 2.9L stick w/electric-shift 4x4 :D

Sounds like there's some air in the clutch hydraulics that needs to be bled out.
Bleeding these things can be a pain in the butt due to the position of the master though.

If it's drivable, see if the pedal firms up on it's own after 50-100 miles or so. Depending where the air bubble is, it might expel itself on it's own.

If it doesn't (or if it's not drivable) then I would get under there and try bleeding it. There's a how-to video up at the top of the forum section here that could help. :icon_thumby:

Best way to bleed the clutch by yourself is to get the bleeder open just a tiny bit, so it drips about once every 5 min or so, and then fill the reservior. Let it sit like that for a day checking it every few hours.

If it fully releases and engages, let it be. Mine was like that for about 3 days after replacement and it bled itself out.

i dontave it registered curently so i cant realy try and drive it out, is bleeding it possible with one man
