i have a Autometer sportcomp water temp gage in the truck, its a mechanical type gage, not electric. I need the water line that goes from the gage to my 302 v8 intake. I am having troubles finding the line itself at stores.

Where can i find a water temp line? What about the fittings on the gage, are the all pretty much the same? Thanks help is appreciated!

You can't get just the "line" for a mech. water guage, as it is part of the guage assembly. Removing it from the guage renders the guage useless. An oil pressure guage is the only one that has a replaceable "line". When you buy a new water temp. guage, it comes with the fittings to install it. Otherwise, you get to go dig in the brass fittings bin at your local hardware store or partshouse.

thanks..what type of tubing can i use? I want it to be flexible.

Whats the part number on your gauge?
What Mudhound is saying is a mech. temp gauge comes with the lead to go to the intake made to the back.If it does not have a lead, its electrical that uses a sending unit.

that gauge should have 12' of tubing attacked to it as well as a 1/2 npt fitting attached to the line so that you can screw the capilary tube into your intake manifold.
this is a link to the 3432 http://www.autometer.com/cat_gaugedetail.aspx?gid=2899&sid=15, which is the closest thing on autometers site to the 3433. it shows to have a 6' capilary tube attached to it. its kind of wired that they dont have the 3433 on their site, but im looking at it in my catalog?

so what u guys are saying is that i cannot buy a seperate mechanical line? Can one be made? No way im buying a $70 gage at Napa when mine is good, my line snapped and yes i know my gage came with a line..

sorry to say, but if the line snapped, might as well chuck the gauge cause theres no fix for that as far as i know.

Its on summit's website. If you broke it its trash .$75 for a new one.I need the 3331 for the F100 to complete a set.Its $65.

X3 on the line broke, the gauge is trashed. There's some sort of gas in the line that escapes when the capillary tube ruptures. That renders the gauge uselsss.

I'm using Equess (sp?) gauges in both my rigs, available at most autoparts stores, they're $20 and the look and work great.

And yes, if the capilary tube ruptures, the guage is useless.
