Hello,

I just installed my mechanical water temp gauge, it's great. Everyone of you guys were right about installing a mechanical gauge. I have some questions about it though.

Where should I attach the positive lead for the back light and where should I attach the ground?

What temp should my truck (1988 Ranger 2.9L) run at in the winter with a 195 degree t-stat? What about in the summer?

Thanks

Wire it into your dash lights, the light in the ash tray is a good spot to tap into.
It should hover around 195, maybe a bit more (215ish) if it's hot out and you're pulling a grade.

Just wanted people to know I found a place to wire it to. The illumination wire from the stock radio harness is a great place to route it to.

I tapped into my old electric shift 4wd wire harness that was dangling inside the dash.

Mine only goes over 200 degrees if sitting in traffic with the A/C on, or towing a lot.
