any words of wisdom on water pump install, never have did a 4 banger. do I have to remove the timing belt etc...?

I also have a leaking freeze plug got the old one out how do I get the new one in? it is the front pass. side by the motor mount

has anyone else had a problem with the neck of th t stat housing leaking due to corrosion?

thank all
this 4cyl is just so different than my 2 84 2.8's

Shouldn't have to pull the timing belt, although if it's anywhere near being due, you might as well get it done while you're in there. For the freeze plug, find a big socket to put in the center and gently tap it in. Some people may recommend putting copper permatex around the edge as well. I can see how the water neck might get pinholes after a while. The one on my '93 certainly isn't looking pretty these days.

thanks got most of it done we'll see if everything holds water in a few days
