hey guys, i was wondering what would be involved in being able to hit ponds without taking in water and frying it or hydrolocking it. i know about the airfilter i will probably use a snorkel or modify it someway under the hood so that it wont suck in water. but what about the electronics? ive had to replace the rotor button due to goin through water before, but what about the coil and all the wiring and the distributor etc. is there anything i can use to keep that clear of water. id like to be able to hook up some shields so NO water gets under the hood but i dont know how that would be possible since it would be coming in from the bottom and everything. would a skid plate help keep water out a little bit? any more suggestions
thanks alot

silicone spray everything electric. and skid plates dont stop water. it will find a way in. snorkel for sure. that's about what it takes

I have a project write up for a aquatic ranger build.. I'll have to dig around and see if I can find it.. it's in a file box with about 15 different complete build write ups and a bunch of incomplete ones. Basically I'm covering my ass for whichever way I decide to take my next few Rangers.

You could try to create a gasket for each of the items that you think water will get into, just pick up some of those thin foam sheets you find in craft sections. And you could also do what sloth69mustang suggested and use silicone spray.

buy some ignition sealer.. its in a spray can. i used it on my 88 ranger and i almost had it under water and it never died until water got in stupid fuel pump relay.. which i relocated inside the cab lol...

Ive heard of silicone in your electrical like your distributor cap and any other electrical component at a non seal point.Be careful messing with water though it can be very destructive in ways you never thought of.

prime n paint all exposed metals, theres a start. wont water proof, but will prevent it from rusting out

thanks guys, i also heard about placing the coil in a container to seal it, while cuttin w hole in the side for the wires. ill probably start with thhat
