i have a 92 ranger i just bought. after a heavy rain i saw water leaking outa the heater box (i think) and onto the passenger floor. any ideas where this is coming from and how to fix. thanks for any ideas

Could be from a number of places, but most likely the drain tray under the cowl or firewall...check the firewall and surrounding area for rust...could have leaked in around the heater hoses also...or even the windshield...if you have one of those visors that stick on above the windshield it may be coming in from the holes for the fasteners...

In other words, any place that is rusty or not sealed properly...fortunately, most are fixable...but depends on the condition of the rest of the vehicle...

Mine was doing the same thing, and after poking around a bit I found that the portion of the heater box that is on the inside of the cab was cracked. Sealed it up with some epoxy and cleaned the drain tube that goes through the firewall out, and that seemed to have fixed it.
