Okay I have a 87 BII with a puzzling problem, I would go through the car wash or after a really hard rain water would run into the heater box where the blower fan is and leak onto the floor, my only problem is I don't know how the water is getting there and I really want to get this fixed ASAP before I rust out the floor pan:[ My first thought is the cowl under the windshield, I had a 88 BII with the same problem I don't know where to start and sorry if this doesnt sound urgent enough, but is! I really want to get this fixed before the spring rains lol

Thanks, Tony

There's a drain in the lower part of the heater box, it's probably blocked with debris. it's normal for water to get into the system that's what the drain's for.

Agreed. The box isn't usually sealed all that well, and the drain does get plugged up due to location.

It's also possible the cowl has rotted out.

A third possibility is the inner wiper access panel. I had mine start leaking because the gasket failed and it would piss down on my feet every time it rained. I figured the cowl was rotted out and was ready to go looking for a cab. Took the dash out to inspect and found a bad gasket on the panel.

Hey guys, thanks for the replies, it was the drain, there were leaves and stuff in it I have no idea how all that stuff got in there, the wiper cowl isn't rotted but I did notice the rubber gasket that you were talking about adsm is cracked and dry rotted so another project for the spring haha cleaned out the box drain so hopefully that does the trick. Thanks guys for the quick replies!

When I had to replace my heater core I found the drain in mine was plugged as well, I cleaned it all out when I did the replacement, but I still get water on the floorboard, I drilled holes in the floorboard to solve that problem LOL. Anyone who has seen the pictures of my B2 would know that I don't think a couple holes in the floorboard will make any difference for the appearance LOL.

I think these air boxes are anything but leak proof to begin with so anything you do to seal it better is just going to help that much more, however, keep all the water out of it as you can because it will start to corrode the heater core as well if its allowed to build up too much in the housing.
