water getting into cab

Well found the other leak glad y'all mentioned the 3rd brake light, never would have thought to look. Haven't been able to find one around here. Gonna be taking it off later today and figure out a homemade gasket. Thanks, guys

You could put a bead of RTV around the edges of the light assembly (with it off the truck), let it skin over a little, and then fit it in place. Don’t let it get fully hard, but letting it skin over keeps it from adhering too hard to the body when you press it in place. Arguably, a gasket would be better, but that would be a quick and dirty repair if it’s what’s needed

I should be good got a couple of silicone gasket sheets and of course plenty of RTV if that doesn't work

Instead of 10 days in early snow and sub-freezing nights in Montana, I drove to the Cali redwoods for 6 days, all sunshine and warmth but for the last day. The 9 hours back home were in driving rain as an 'atmospheric river' (we used to just call that a wet day) followed me home the entire drive*. Verdict: the floor plug and spooging of weatherstrip cement on the driver's side floor pan worked. The carpet stayed dry. A check yesterday, while it was still raining, showed it to have stayed that way.
I will check it again tomorrow before I head out on a month-long ride to Alabama and beyond, to the Barber Museum Vintage Motorbike Festival soiree and BMW Motorrad's 100th anniversary and pahtay.

* Mileage of 22, 23.5, 25.5 and 27.8(!) mpg is what each tank delivered over 1,100 miles.

Best way to really find out, is to pull the seats, pull the carpet and sound deadner out, and then put the seats back in without the carpet and drive it. First off that will be a chance for it really to dry out, both the floor and the carpet. Second, when it leaks you will see the water trail usually without the carpet in place.

I had a leak like that in my Bronco. The only way I found it was to pull the carpet out and drive it. Mine was a little screw up high in the firewall area on the driver's side was leaking. A little sealer around the screw stopped it. It's amazing how a small drip leak can make such a big mess.

And you want to nip this in the bud, you do not want your floorboard to start rusting. If you get the leak fixed, and you see a little bit of rust here and there, clean it up and put some rustoleum rusty metal primer on it to stop it. Then you can put the sound deadner and carpet back.
Pull everything out. Put a sprinkler on top see where it's comming in. If it ain't the top, put the sprinkler in it.

I'm back from my near month-long moto roadtrip to the Barber Motorsports Museum and Vintage Bike Festival in Leeds, Alabama, via Mississippi, and every other state between there and Washington state. It was a great run, a total of 7,230.7 miles, 18 states travelled through, average daily mileage 276 miles, 43 mpg average, and one set of tires, replaced in Albuquerque.

Meanwhile, the Ranger sat for 28 days in my driveway, through rain and shine. The driver's side carpet is still bone dry. This at least shows the leak isn't happening while the truck is parked. It's dry today but the next rainy day (won't have to wait too long) in WA state I'll take it out for a spin.

Next on my list, code 25 for the airbag warning light on the dash...but that's for another thread.

Had you only let us known when you would been coming through you coulda bought us all a lunch

It certainly is a shame about the Ranger there man, but that was a heluva trip. Be nice if you could break it down into phases or something and post a few photos and tell us about it. I have been to all those places myself from the left side Canada and left side of Mexico but still like hearing and seeing it, as do lots of others. Glad you had a great trip man, it includes a lot of very interesting places :)
