Every time it rains I notice water standing in my passenger side floor board. I've looked but can't seem to find where it is coming in. The windshield has a slight crack in it, but nothing bad. Has anyone else had this problem or know of rangers having this problem.:icon_confused: Thanks for any advice.:icon_thumby:

If my memory serves, and there's no guarantee that it does, the first and second gen rangers were notorious for having leaves and other debris get caught in the vent intake right at the foot of the windshield making water leak into the truck and rusting out the passenger side near the dash and possibly in some cases flooding the truck.

Again, if memory serves, the problem can be remedied by blowing compressed air into the vent.

Anybody with a better memory please correct me.

my 93 does the same thing if you figure out what it is please pm me because i need to fix this soon before i got permanent damage

ok i have a 83 and had this EXACT problem. It was 2 things. 1- if you take off the trim on the passenger side floor board so you can pull back the carpet or vinel floor cover. It had rusted a little bit and was leaking through a small small hole and that was a easy fix. Also above the door my truck had rusted through and somehow it was leaking through the window...so i got it all siliconed up and it hasn't leaked 1 drop for the past 2 months in the rainiest of winter. Hope this helps...!

I found my leak was a result of dirt build up under the window trim on the passenger side.25 years+ worth of dirt had build up and water would seep in,cleaned out the dirt, siliconed the window edge and returned the trim to it's resting place.

So far after 3 months of rain storm after rain storm,no leak. Don't let your governor pray for rain durring a drought.:annoyed:

I had a leak where the fuel inertia switch screwed into the firewall. The screws had stripped out and the switch was laying under the carpet. Sealed up the two holes and re-drilled two new ones. Haven't had a problem since.

Gotcha, Thanks guys.:icon_thumby: I was going to take water hose and try to find it, but is hasn't quit raining here long enough to do it:huh:

the 88 I just picked up has that same issue. it was a combination of clogged drain tubes and looks like the windshield needs re-sealed.

I finally got around to fixing the water getting in my 83. I opened the hood and took off the plate on the drivers side firewall and found two handful's of what looked like mulch over the drain hole. I didn't find any drain plugs but i cleaned out all that crap and used black silicon between the fenders and the cowls on either side of the wipers and the front posts cause it looked like water could get down in there and find it's way in the cab too. I poured two five gallon buckets from the roof and no leaks anywhere!:yahoo:

be carefull in that cause i thought i fixed a leak a few times in my 83 and after a good day of hard rain and my truck sitting outside our shop all day i still got water in....you may have just slowed it down to where 2 5 gallon buckets didn't have enough water to seep into the cab. Hopefully its gone though, good luck!

Gotcha, the only other thing it could be is the windshield has a crack it, but I think it would have be be cracked more than it is to leak that much, I'll know soon, we're supposed to get a monsoon here tomorrow.

Passenger side is fixed, drivers side is still freakin leaking a little. I think it's the windshield. I'm getting it replaced soon so we'll see.

HAHA, these things leak and don't leak in the screwiest places.

You can't find the hole the water is coming in through, but I can look at the front of my passenger side door and see the road from the right angle, but no leaky.

Good luck getting it fixed.
