a 2.9 running "Like it had crossed spark wires" is a CLASSIC fuel starvation problem.
Typically they'll do that when it needs a fuel filter..
If the truck has been sitting for some time you have a real
mess to clean-up, but it isn't a total disaster.
The best thing I can say about a 2.9 is that it properly prepares
you for owning a 4.0 later on.
You get used to a 2.9 then get a 4.0 and think it climbs hills like a scalded cat...
I've actually had someone look at my '87 ranger at a rest stop
after watching me pull away from them at 6000ft on a hill
and ask me "whatcha got in that thing?"
I open the hood and show them the '93 4.0 and the light of
understanding comes over them...
