I do not mess around with spam (I assume the other mods are the same way) I will perma-ban anyone caught. No question, no warnings. There seems to be a free-for-all going on right now. If you have something that you want to post, that looks like spam, ask one of the mods if it will be O.K. to post.

We are trying to clean up the forums guys, so give us a little time. We will get the spammers taken care of, but they seem to crawl out of the woodwork like ticks...

You're doing gods work.

*edit, blast, tried repping you, but apparently you were the last person I rep'd.

We can't rep the Mods...they are forever stuck at 10 because...they are perfect the way they are...:)

Good job all around...I recall this has been going on for quite a long time...I don't see that on other sites but maybe just this kind of discussion group...but, then again, I don't get out as much as I should...

Ditto on what Bloodbane said.

I have been out on vacation for the last week, so I missed the newest round of spam, but if I see it, I nuke it, and nuke the user too.

I've been running so much the past couple weeks that I haven't been on as much as usual, somehow always end up on after someone catches the spam. Going to get on the wifi of a couple places I often travel so that I can check up on here more

Has there been an issue with spam bots lately?

It seems to have settled down for now, but for a few weeks there it was every time you hit the "new posts" button a whole page or more of just gibberish threads with links to God know what.

Just curious but what would ypu consider spam??

A meat product with ham and pork made by Hormel.

:)

As for what the spam posting is: anything posting that is unwanted/ useless/ could possibly link to malware or viruses. generally a spammer will sign up and their posts are links to get "free tv shows/ mp3's, warez, porn and other illegal, immoral or fattening sites."

A longtime TRS member is not likely to post anything like that, as they know we will put a hammer down on that pretty quick.

Oh ok then i already dont do those things so im good. And as for the hormel spam its often best served as a sandwhich or with eggs in the morning.

Dang...you just described about 90% of my posts...:bawling:

Well, I got away with it for about 17 years so I guess I had a good run at it...:yahoo:

So I didn't see what the spam was, but usually these format of forums are subject to random bot attacks sometimes.

I think its automated because I've seen it happen on other places before.

Just remember, "Best served" and "edible" are not mutually inclusive concepts.
