I want to build a 351w based stroker for a drag truck build. Ive read and read about 393 and 408, they both have there pros and cons but i cant deside which is best for me. I know the 393 uses a 3.85 inch crankstock length rods and stock sized pistons. I cant aford to buy a kit now or anytime soon so i want to buy the crank here rods and pistons there and eventualy heads cam intake and anything else i need down the road. I would like to buy Edelbrocks E-205 heads, they have a 60cc combustion chamber, 205cc intake runner, 62cc exhaust, 2.080" intake valve, 1.600" exhaust valve, max lift of 0.575 inch. And i will call comp cams to see what cam they recomend for my application. I want to have a safe but compression to run race gas and maybe nitrous. Can you guys give me addvice on what deck clearance head gasket thickness piston type dome dished or flat top and what piston compression height to use to achieve this goal. I would like around 450-500 horsepower.

I found a copression ratio calculator and entered the following values
Bore: 4"
Stroke: 3.85"
Cylinder head volume: 60cc
Piston type: flat top
Deck clearance: 0
Compressed gasket thickness: .029"
Number of cylinders: 8
It gave me a comp ratio of 13.02 : 1
What piston compression height would i need with a "0" deck height, 60cc heads with 2.080/1.600 valves and a stroke of 3.85 inches. Also what octane race gas? Or would methonal be better? Is any of this possible?

I would poke around at a site like sbftech.com
And you could certainly find better heads.
