What's up everyone. I am new to the site and looking fo some info. I am wanting to get a Ranger and prerunner it out. Just got a couple of questions. First what year or years are good for prerunners. I am not looking to buy new, probably like 00 thru 04. I want to put on a mid or long travel kit so I can tear it up in the desert but need it for a daily driver too. If anyone has any suggestions that would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

get a 93-97 waaay cheeper to build and handle well if built right.

Well I have been looking on Craigslist and I found a 97 Ranger in decent condition. It is lowered though and seems like the clutch will have to be replaced. I know I will be swapping out the suspension anyways for a long travel kit, but not sure if it is worth a headache. It is also a flare side and I will be removing the bed anyways and putting on a cage and bedsides. Price is right so I might jump on it. Not sure yet.

read my post in here. should help you out some. if you have more specific questions, ask away!

Thats a good start. I have done some research into LT kits from Camburg and I like what they offer. I have friends in the racing industry who can help me do all the fabrication I don't feel comfurtable doing but I am pretty handy so I can do most of it myself. No going to go to crazy...........yet. I figure I will first get a cheap truck that runs decent. Then dump about 7-8k into to start. I think that would give me a good basis. Camburg LT kit w coilovers and bump stops, rear cage with deavers, extended shackles, and coilovers. Fiberglass all the way around. Then work from there. Any suggestions welcomed. Thanks.

Look in to BTF fab also for a A-arm truck.

well shit, if you have the buddies with the skill and that kind of cash to spend you can build basically a full race truck! ill have about 10k in to my truck when all said and done. Also look in to threat motorsports (my sponsor :D, thanks Dave!), you can have a race ready front end for 3-4k and rear end for that or less (depends on if you go LT leaf springs or link it). for what your sayin 7-8K would be over kill in what you can build it for lol.

It true I have seen the truck and it is really a ranger. A few of us were beleiveing he was trying to place a beams in the front of the chevy.

Yeah thanks bro I was looking at Threat's web site. They got pretty good prices and seem to have solid products. I might have to try them out. I have a guy that works at Vegas Motorsports out here that is a good buddy of my friend who owns a race team and has done some of his work that I will have helping me instal the kit. As far as the rear I would love to go 3 link but for now I will probably stick with the leaf springs with a cage in the back then work my way to a 3 link with coilovers and triple bypass shocks.

ha, now dont go gettin all upset cause you want my beams for your truck.
with the weight of my chevy those beams would bend in a second!

Yeah, his beams are waaaaay stout for the price, it really surprised me. If your doin leafs id call Dave at Threat and ask hm about his new leaf kit or do the giant motorsports 64" leaf kit. that way you can get your 16-18 triple bypass shock and jsut reuse it for the link kit down the road (thats what im plannin on doin)

That's a good idea with reusing the triple bypass shocks. I was looking into National's spring under kit that seems pretty good. I called Dave not too long ago to talk to him about his kits, seems like a good guy, very informative. Which kit do you have from him? All custom or one he sells off his site? I am probably going with his boxed equal length beams that have the d35 ends that way there is no bearing issues like Dave was talking about. Yes I will have to upgrade the hubs and brakes but sounds like it will be worth it. I will also be picking up one of his steering kits. Now I need to decide what coilovers, triple bypass, and bump stops I want. Any suggestions?
