ok...I have a lift kit already but I do not have any way of installing it. I had a friend that had a shop but he took off to the military so I'm screwed. I live near Sacramento CA. and I was wondering if anyone knew of a shop that would lift it for me for a good price...I have a first generation ranger so it is easy to lift and I only need the front done because I can to the back myself...so if anyone has any info please let me know...thanks.:thefinger:

yeah, just jack her up in the garage. You don't NEED a lift, its just nice to have.

Floor Jack
Jack Stands
Hand Tools

You really don't need a spring compressor, I've removed and installed springs a number of times without one. Just disconnect the shocks, jack it up and remove the tires, put jackstands on the frame and lower it down till the springs fully relax. Unscrew the nut retaining them on the bottom and twist 'em free (you might need a friend to push down a lil on the end of the axle to make it easier, but I've done it without).

It's not really all that hard to do in your driveway. I tore the suspension out of my Choptop when I first got it on dirt and swapped over a different set of axles and 2" lift coils. Then I drove it home (it was at a family friend's place). Once I got it home I tore it apart again and put 3" lift coils on with drop brackets. That took some fighting to get the 3" coils in with the stock radius arms. Then I tore it apart a few months later to put extended arms in and F-150 spring perches. All of that was done in our limestone driveway. The hardest part was fighting rust and removing the rivets, but a torch came in handy.

Well I have the coil compressors and the tools to get the job done, but I do not have a shop and my front driveway is gravel. And the only jack I have is a high lift with no jack stands. If I had concrete, jackstands, and Jacks I would do it myself.

ive done lift kits in the middle of a field in the sleet and spitin snow with a good wind in about 20F granted it might have taken me a week or two it got done so gravel is a step up from what i was workin on

Ya But this is my everyday driver lol...If I had another vehicle I would have this ranger torn down and I would be dropping a straight axle under the front from an old bronco...but I use this to get everywhere...That's why I wanted to find someone around me that would be able to lift it for me...at least the front...I can figure out the rear myself.

It can be done in a weekend on gravel. I've done it before.

It's always good to have a good bottle or floor jack and a set of jackstands. I've set jackstands right on the gravel driveway and I have some cut pieces of 2x10-12 pressure treated lumber and some 1/2" ply that I tacked on it to set jackstands on to keep them from sinking when the ground is soft. Just leave it in gear, block the wheels with some wheel chocks or 2x4 and set the e-brake to make sure it doesn't move.

I've made the mistake of not using a jackstand before. I figured that it wasn't going to take long and I didn't have to get under the vehicle. And I've had it come off the jack like that and scare the heck out of me. No, jackstands are a VERY important tool.

use one of these lol

HAHAHAHAhAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!! You know what? Where I live that would be exceptable LOl!!! And yes...If I had a baco I would do that lol

What a funny guy, lol. Lemme guess: the Bronco, the Mustang, and the dogs...

I prefer a real skid steer loader though, lol

Go to a tool rental shop and rent the jack, jackstands, and whatever else you need. Plus there are alot of guys on here in that area I believe. Go to the regional forums, lookup screennames and start PMing.

Oh...Ok thanks...I'll give that a try.
