Want to change the front and rear suspension on my 2004 4x4 4.0 Ranger.


Sure. Depending on how much you need it might be a little more than your $500 mark from the first post, but I don't think you'll exceed $1000 at worst case.

I'm sure one of us can also probably help with a list of parts. Are you looking for a general list like "lower ball joints, upper control arms..." or specific like "2ea Moog (P/N) balljoint, Moog (P/N) left upper control arm... "?

Next questions would be...
Are you doing the labor yourself? If you are planning to have a shop install the parts, many won't touch customer provided parts.
Are you needing or planning to get an alignment when the parts are installed? If so there are additional parts to add to the list.

Keep in mind it's real easy for us to spend someone else's money.
All of the labor myself and absolutely need to have an alignment myself. Full specific parts list if you please. If you're feeling extra kinky, links to Rock Auto would be amazing. I'll do up to $1000 since I don't need to buy all at once. I'll just do all the work at once when I gather the parts. This is going to coincide with new tires so might as well have them balanced and aligned after I get the suspension done.
 
The Mevotech lower ball joints, upper control arms, and outer tie rod ends have been great for me and they have zirc fitting for greasing them. They have been on the truck for almost 6 years and have been fine. I believe they all have a lifetime warranty as well. Professional mechanics have warned the TTX (green boots) are great. Blue boot models are garbage.




 
is your truck an edge? if so, you should have a rear sway bar already so you won't have to worry about adding one. just maybe hte links but i bet they are probably also ok.

i upgraded the sway bars on my 04 edge from the junkyard. i got a bronco2 rear bar and then an explorer front bar. i took the front bar off because it was to stiff but the rear bar actually made a noticeable difference in sway from high winds and lean in the turns.

just some sway bar info for you to consider.
 
Is there a go to kit off of Amazon or somewhere that has the upper and lower control arms, shocks, and anything else that is recommended to change. Sway bars maybe? New to working on trucks so any suggestions are welcome. I have a 2003 parts truck but would prefer to go new if it's at all price competitive. Like say all in for $500 or so just to get it road worthy. It is fine now but the control arms are shot. If I already have it all apart would now be the time to consider a disk conversion on the rear brakes? Parts list available for that?
If you are looking for OE / OEM Replacement, RockAuto is your friend.

They usually have a complete front end kits that include LCA's, Ball Joints, Sway Bar Links and Brackets, Inner and Outer Tie Rods, etc.

I have used the MevoTech Supreme and TTX lines on multiple vehicles and found them to be solid, high quality parts.

IMHO, MOOG is not what it once was. They are pretty much standard grade stuff that sells on the name...
