trying to find the specs on how often to do my transfercase, transmission and differentials... found this site...
http://www.fordf150.net/2007/2007-ford-trucks-scheduled-maintenance-guide.pdf
and according to that, unless i missed something, my manual transmission isn't supposed to be done till 100 000 miles... (i thought i was told 96,000KM) and my front diff, and t-case (along with RWD rear diffs [i assume this is to include 4x4]) not till 150 000 miles! that's ridiculous!

then to top it off it says in the manual it is not compulsory to use synthetic (except in my rear diff)

that's ridiculous! 160 000km on the transmission and 240 000km on the diffs and transfercase!?!?! my last 5 vehicles barely made it to 240 000kms!

I always change tranny fluid every 30K

Engine oil every 5K ( I use synthetic)

Differentials and t-case Every 50K

Coolant about 15K(or 2 years on average)

May be more frequent, but my truck runs good, real good.....:icon_thumby:

know why? manufacturers do this shit so they can advertise low maintenance costs.

i replace fluids when they get dirty not by mileage. its crazy not to

ok so i'm not the only one who thinks this is retarded... i spend 150$ in fluids in the past few days, 115 today, and another 35ish earlier...

all synthetic, synthetic atf went into the transfercase on saturday, i've got more to go into my trans (mobil 1) i've got lucas synthetic oil 80-140 and the friction modifier for my torsen, and castrol syntec 75-90 to go into my front diff, and i'm at 89600km (not sure if any of it has been done before, it's all starting to get a little black.. but nothing is diesel oil dirty or anything...

I can see 150 thousand being ok for a manual transmission. If it's working right it isn't really doing anything to wear or dirty the fluid. If it is making the fluid dirty enough to be an issue, then you have bigger issues.

I usually change my trans fluid every 75 to 100K because I usually end up dumping it on the floor when I do the clutch.
