Volt gauge?

You can tie in to any fuse in the box that is hot on Acc or On via the Ing. switch,if its hot all the time it will kill your battery.
Use a test light or Volt meter to help you figure out witch one,I use an open Acc on the fuse block myself.

okay. did you have to put the fuse in and then just push the spade terminal in it. or no fuse and just a spade terminal?

If it's useful to you to know the voltage all the time, you can use a non-switched fuse. A voltmeter is a high-resistance load, the higher the better, so it will draw almost no power from the battery. It will certainly draw less than the clock/radio memory.

Would this be a better option.

Just hook this up to a fuse that is already set for switched power.
