Hi All !! I have a 93 Ranger 4X4 and it has been extremely gone thru over the past couple years. Brand new 95 4.0 engine and the suspension has a lift with the TTB being completely modified withe 96 Bronco spindles and braking system. I also got a M5ODR1-HD out of a 2001 and put it in there. I got all the parts and did a complete rebuild on the trans before putting it in. Now I have a slight issue I am looking for opinions on please. I have noticed that the truck has a vibration in 4th gear at around 3000 rpm and in 5th at around 2500 rpm. I have checked a lot of things like the front suspension for bearing issues and in test driving it if you get it up to speed and disengage the clutch the engine idles but the vibration is still there. Someone mentioned that improper shimming on the front input shaft can possible cause this as if the shaft is to loose it will cause the inner bearings to not seat properly. Just asking if anyone has had this issue before and if not are there any other areas to look at that I may isolate this vibration to ?? Any replies would be appreciated. Thanks

That sounds like a driveline balance issue to me.

Would you say the vibration is wheel speed or 4 times wheel speed?

Im Not to sure Uncle !! I replaced the center bearing on the driveshaft a while back and was thinking of actually replacing the complete drive shaft with a late model one piece !

Most guys do convert to a one piece...

Does it tend to vibrate under load or on coast?

In 4th gear it vibrates as I am accelerating from 3000 to 3500 rpm and then in 5th it starts at 2500 and goes to 3000. When I let off the gas and disengage the clutch it will vibrate for a short time when slowing down. Cant really tell you the speed I am going as when I regeared the axles it threw the speedo into cardiac arrest !!! I cannot tell how fast I am goin on the freeways just that I can pass traffic like they are standing still !! LOL

Could be input bearing related but I suspect not, I'd be looking at u-joint/driveshaft issues. Check output bearing on tcase and pinion bearing on rear axle.
