After installing an 8.8 and getting regeared I drove the b2 for somewhere around 150 miles and then this vibration started out of no where. When I am coming to a stop and I really press on the brake it sounds like something is clicking and its pretty loud. I went through the front and re greased everything. At first I thought maybe the caliper clip popped out a little and was hitting the rim causing the caliper to shake. Is there a possibility that its something in the rear end.

I also considered the d shaft but why would it go 150miles then start to vibrate. I checked for the weights on it and they are still there plus why would it sound like some kind on brake issue. I have very good pedal pressure and it will stop great.

I'm going to open up the rear end tomorrow and take a look. Anything that I should look for instantly. If It is some kind of possible bearing issue what needs to be done?

Thanks, im going to start driving it again since I haven't for a month.

I have no weights on 2 wheels, doesnt bother me one bit not to say its different for you, just 2 of mine fell off and it does 55 just fine, no vibration what so ever.

It shouldn't be anything in the rear axle, did you put that locker in it yet?
Is the rear driveshaft a double cardan? Could be ujoints loose, does the vibration get faster or louder the faster you go? Does it do it with front hubs locked in?

Not yet on the locker. single jointed shaft. no ujoints loose. louder the faster I go.

Havent tried the hubs. What will that do???

EDIT: Just tried it with the hubs locked and it still does the same thing.

Any Ideas. Im thinking about pulling the cover just to take rear out of the equation.

Usually the vibrations in the driveline...bent or out of balance driveshaft or a loose slip shaft. Try seeing if there is play in the slip part of the shaft. Or try pulling the rear shaft out and drive with front tires just to see if it goes away.

Ill try taking the shaft out. If I ends up being the shaft im just going to get a double carbon built.

A double would be best for your lift.
The single might be part of the vibrations from the operating angles.

I hope that's the problem. The shaft looks like its at its max operating angles as it is.

Okay so I took the rear shaft and the vib is less noticeable. But the braking noise is still there.

While on the test drive it felt like when I would turn the front end would hop or bounce. Only while turning as much as I can tell.

Opinions??

Because you're driving a front wheel drive RBV?

hey when you find that "brake" noise... post it up... I think I have the same noise

HA! ^ that's exactly why, it's because u-joints don't rotate smoothly in a front axle when the wheels are turned.

My old Grand Cherokee felt like that from the factory, but it was full time 4WD.

^^ that would suck to feel it all the time.

I'm just going to start by getting a double cardon shaft then try and figure the clunking when breaking.

When I took out the rear shaft you can see that it was hitting the flange at the axle end.

how much lift do you have?
what's your angles look like?

I have about 5 inches of lift on my b2 with an 8.8, using a single cardon shaft with NO issues whatsoever. my driveshaft is a 4wd explorer shaft shortened down.

4in. which consist explorer leafs,2in block and ruffstuff perches for another inch or so. I set the rear end at 6degrees as I read that it would be fine up to 6inches of lift. Maybe just a pinion shim would help??
