Hey guys,
I am very new to the Ranger and I am buying a 92 Ford Ranger. Two wheel drive, I don't know the engine or any other information yet. Im in need of a truck and I have heard that they are pretty reliable and I am getting it off a friend, helping him out with his money problem.
As such it has some problems of its own, like no transmission. (but I'm buying the rest of it for 450 bucks)
Im going to get under it and do some more investigative work, like, is the trans actually gone? Or just busted? what is the drive train, what is the actual sub model of Ranger?
A little history on me. I do all my own work and this is my first truck. I am used to working on my small Escort GT's and Turbo Talons or Eclipses, So this truck, while being brand new, wont be 100% foreign. From what ive read your engines were based off my 86 turbo escort 1.9l so hopefully some of it transfers.
I have a lot of general questions, which I am searching your website for the answers.I do however, have a request.
Can any body tell me what you guys think is the weak point of your engine, drive train, transmission, heck interior wheels or just about anything else.
I really just want to get you guys talking about things you personally feel could be better or improved, so I know what to look for first.
What is a favorite transmission in these parts and.. if you had the ability to change the 2 wheel drive to 4 wheel what trans would you use including the rest of that package.
