I wish truck manufacturers would bring these vent windows back! Out of all the stuff they come up with to out do one another...why not these? For anyone who's had them in the past know what I mean. Sometimes they were referred to as "smokers windows", to me they were my A/C when the old a/c died. They worked great...well sometimes they directed an angry bee to your torso or crotch area but other than that I loved them. Thoughts?

Thoughts? It's kinda like sex---if you never had it, you don't know what your missing!

Yep those window vents were great--you controlled the air/the amount/where the air went/flip em all the way & they pulled like a vacuum....

Also....how about the lower vents vehicles once had in the left & right kick-panels....talk about keep the floorboard area cool!

Annnnnnnnnd cowl vents! Now those babies could cool the whole cab when you popped it open....my '36 has a provision for the cowl vent, but I havent bought one YET!

Vent windows were great, I miss them. Opening windscreens were even better. They can't put vent windows on the newer cars cause that's where the mirrors are. If they replaced the mirrors with itsy bitsy cameras perhaps they would have room for the windows again.

I've had a few vehicles with those vents and I like em.

I'm with DG on the three air vents he mentioned. Think my '90' Jeep was the last time I saw the wing windows. My '39' Dodge also had the windshield so it would crank out a couple of inches at the bottom. Sorry they got rid of them.

Nah!!! Don't like them, and I don't miss them. Just made it easy to get your ride broken into. I poped so many of them out to to show friends how it was so easy to open them up and unlock their door and swipe your stuff!!!! Like James Dean....Bye, Bye.

I love them. I wish my truck had them. I hope that when it comes time to paint that I find a pair of doors with them.

So far, rust free ones have been out of my price range or they've been electric doors.

I have heard that they struggle to seal water out which is probably why rust free ones would be pricey to find.

They are ok, I prefer my rear slider to them though.

I like mine... Use them all the time.

Best windows ever. I wish I had 'em nowadays. They went the way of the dinosaur when A/C came along. 1 piece window is cheaper, I'd guess.

ya know... if you really want vent windows, the answer is easy.....

buy a 1st gen and be done.

I remember those vents near the floor where U would push and pull the knob to open and shut, loved them too. I miss the high beam light switch on the floor too. I must be old:icon_confused:

I have an 87 without them and an 88 with. I like both.

I prefer the full windows in the truck where I can have the rear window open and get full blow through, but that jet of cool air pointed right at your crotch is nice in the BII that doesn't have any way for the air to rush out the back.

I like them now that I discovered their usefulness. My 88 has 'em but I never opened them. The dump trucks I used to drive for work had them but the boss said to keep them closed because they had a tendency to leak when used so he sealed them up. My F-150 has 'em but for the first year or two the only time they were opened was to wipe the rubber gaskets down with silicone gel. Then one day I popped the drivers side one open on my F-150 and....

Yea. I wish my choptop had them.... I have two extra sets of doors for an RBV but they're both power and my choptop is manual everything. But, the rollcage is in the way of cranking the windows now so it may get power windows yet...

Less leak issues and makes the vehicle harder to break into without them, they were great, but I think we're better off without them. Floor vents are really awesome too, but I imagine they got nixed for costs, and possibly leaks as well.
