I heard that the best gaskets to use on a 2.9's valve covers are to just use the cork ones and not putting anything on them. Anyone else do this?

Every gasket will suck donkeys if the valve covers aren't flat. And it's very common for them to get distorted.

And FYI, Ford sells the best gaskets for the application. They are neither rubber nor cork nor the "blue" stuff. They have nice steel inserts to keep you from overtightening and splitting the gasket.
