i feel stupid asking but what side is the "right" side of the engine and what size is the "left" side of the engine. i dont have a manual to tell me which valves are intake and which are exhaust. so if anybody has a diagram of which valves are which and what side is what please help me out thanks!!!
this is for a 2.8l

Looking from the front the drivers side is right side passenger is left.

Incorrect. The "point of view" is <ALWAYS> from the vehicle, or drivers' SEAT. If you look at the rockers, after you pull the covers (valve adjustment, I'm guessing) it will be fairly obvious which rockers are what, as the Passenger side rear 2 cylinders share the exhaust port, front one is single, and the Drivers' side is the opposite; front 2 cylinders share the exhaust.
