Can someone tell me if there is a hose that is supposed to go here? I recently did lifters and I can't remember if there's supposed to be anything going to this point... It's definitely got a vacuum and engine will stall if I plug it. If a hose is supposed to be connected here can someone let me know where it's supposed to connect to on the other end? :P

Thanks

A vacuum port should never be open to atmosphere. A hose should be there in it's factory configuration. I'm not sure which hose, but one should be there.

Where is the PCV on a 2.9? I know on a 3.0 it's on the driver's side :dunno:

Thanks for the replies guys. I now realize that there SHOULD be a hose to this location, but I can't figure out where it needs to go, I have no hoses left after reassembly so maybe its tucked down in the engine compartment? If anyone can look on their 2.9 and let me know that would be awesome! A side note: the oil cap is on the drivers side because i mixed up the valve covers when I put them on. *facepalm*

I just checked my 2.9 and I believe it connects to the cruise control.

Having not looked at a 2.9 in ages, is one valve cover vented into the intake with a PCV valve and the other vented into the intake hose?

Mine was the the automatic transmission modulator, but looks like you've got something custom going on there.

What do you see that looks custom? :S

I just did heads, and i am pretty sure the cruise control goes there.

Mine as well. If you are an auto, it should go back to the left of the distributor and snake down to the trans.

If it's a manual then I guess Cruise? Either, Plug that thing until you find out. Even with covering it in duct tape temporally, haha....Better than being open.

I've got an '88 with no cruise and a manual transmission. That port is just capped with a rubber cover.

Well mine is an 88 with auto trans and cruise control so I guess that's where it goes, once it stops raining and I get the time I will go and meticulously look at where it could possibly go. As for now its not my daily driver, just gonna be a bush truck so its not like it has to be done right away.

Also, I looked at my coworker's 89 b2 with a manual trans and his is capped like you describe, if it comes down to it I will just cap it and live without cruise control as it won't be seeing much highway anyways.

I will get back to you guys if i find anything out, thanks :)

I looked on my '86 2.9 5spd manual, and yes, cruise control is correct.

I looked at it this morning before work and found a hose dangling behind the engine, it goes to a round thing mounted on the inner fender on the driver's side, I guess this is where the cruise control unit is? Well I hooked it up and no more vacuum leak :) thanks everyone for helping me resolve this issue.
