Ok I want to put a 302 into a 99 ranger. Its has a 2.5 in it right now. Is this possible???and what do I need to do with the tranny???can I keep it or does it need to be replaced??

anything is possible... what trannys in it now? you need to start by figuring out what you wanna use it for... and do you want auto or manual... so on...

this truck is strictly off road...well the tranny is stock..i have some problems with the engine now so i decided to upgrade...since a 4 cyc wasnt pushing the boggers very well..so i hear a 302 is best for the swap..does it matter what vehicle it comes from??and manual so i can rock it...

Does strictly offroad mean trailer queen? I have to ask because some people say for offroad but still drive it to work and what not. If it won't be seeing street use then yes any 302 will work fine if you want to use a carb. If you want to say fuel injected then really your best bet would be to use a 5.0L Explorer as your donor. Not only will everything be pretty much bolt in but you will still be able to use your stock gauges and keep it street legal as far as emissions are concerned.
