v8 swap wiring question

Hello, I have a 96 ranger I'm putting a 4.6l dohc in. I've been researching the repining of ECU Harness. I am unfamiliar with this part. I have a 98 mark vii motor. I'm unsure on what computer to run, and I haven't really found good diagrams and or instructions on repining the harness from the computer to the 42 pin. was wondering if anyone would be able to help me better understand it with some examples maybe....

Best bet might be to get a EVTM for both the engine and the truck and mix and match from there.

Might dip into the Mustang side of it and check out that arena too, I am sure people are stuffing those in Mustangs also.
