V8 Swap Scenarios

Alrighty-

As you may have guessed my 2.9 has left signs on the driveway that it's about done being beaten. What do you guys think as a swap/ fix plan: I take a F-150 truck running gear minus axles (engine,trans,xfer) and stuff it in my Ranger? I figure if I'm going to replace my 2.9 why put in a 4.0? This truck is my daily driver by the way and I'll have to get my '65 Mustang on the road first. Thoughts??

Sounds like a plan to me. What year F-150? Might want to freshen it up before the swap but like Teddy said, go for it.

I have been looking for an early to mid-90's f150 with the 5.0/AOD combo with either manual or electric shift transfer. My electronic shift works perfect and figured what the hell either way would be cool and I gotta have that fourth gear with the 3.73 gears running 30" tall tires (good mileage). I can't get crazy with it and keep as much driver in it as possible.

I would go with the manual transfer case. One less thing to mess up while out having fun. Just my .02
