I have a 91 ranger extended cab with a 5.0 roller motor and a mustang t-5
5 speed.
when i did my swap it was in a 84 ranger short bed that was a 2.3 5 speed.
i needed more room so i got a 91 ranger cheap sold the 4.0 and 5 speed.
then swaped in what i had.
i used mustang tri y headers they worked great and only 150.00 they are long tube. i ran the 2 1/2 pipes and turbo mufflers on the passenger side with dumps before the rear end.
i used the stock drive shaft no cutting, just changed the yoke for the 5 speed. the auto trans has a longer tailshaft so you need a shorter drive shaft if you go that route.
i used a explorer v8 aluminum radiator. and a reverse rotation flex fan.
i used advance motor mount adapters and oil filter relocation kit.
i found a t-5 out of a mustang with .63 overdrive, and flywheel, belhousing, clutch fork. got the slave cylinder bracket and slave cylinder from advance adapters it worked with the ranger clutch master cylinder.
i moved the cross member back to line up with the trans mount, holes were already in the frame, bolted right up
i used a explorer plate that goes on the trans tunnel and cut a hole for the shifter.
the motor has a comp cam .533 lift 270 duration
the stock 88 heads have been ported more on the exhast side, a 30 hp increase
a rpm intake with a 600 holley, getting 20 mpg now but changing the carb to a holley quadrajet 650 because it has smaller primaries and 51 jets to the 600s 65 jets witch will help a lot towards better mileage. i already tryed this setup on a 351c and it works great. its a vacum secondary carb.it uses a 1 inch adapter to fit on the intake.
