My buddie wants to know if a Exploder
5.0 n Trans be Swapped in.. (1994 Ranger)

Also I (we) know that the Exploders are AWD,
Can that T. Case be Swaped to a normal T.Case??
What T. Case would bolt Right up to the Trans and
D.Shafts??? Will it bolt up to the CrossMember???

Thanx

Several companies make SBF V8 adapter mounts for 97 and earlier Rangers, so swapping any 5.0L should be a snap for the 94.

The AWD 5.0 Explorers used a small six bolt 31-spline transfer case. If you get a $500+ kit from Advance Adapters, you can adapt the AWD Ex's 4R70W auto to a 5-bolt, 26?-spline Ranger 1350 or 1354 t/case. There are three different length AA kits, so you should be able to select one that would allow the use of the stock Ranger driveshafts.

On mine, I chose to use the much stronger BW4406 manual t/case from a 97~2003 F-150. It bolts up directly to the Explorer 4R70W AWD transmission but it is HUGE. On my 2003, there is very little clearance to the fuel tank and left frame rail. The swap also required different length driveshafts compared to stock. An alternative to the BW4406 is the BW1356 found on many earlier full size Ford 4x4s. It should bolt up the same way.

My 4R70W transmission was a direct fit to my 2003 crossmember. I don't know if that is true for all years but it shouldn't be that hard to adapt if necessary.

Explorer 4R70W bolted to BW4406 transfer case.
