V6 to V8 Help

Hi, i just picked up a ford ranger and am going to put a 302 in it. I want to make it a mild crawler and want to know all about the conversion. What i am mostly worried about is how to line up the tranny with the transfercase and what engine to actually go with. Strenght durability and torque. etc

well i mean will they bolt right up to the stock v6 transfercase or will a 302 bolt up to the v6 tranny. I just want to know whats i have to do to get the 302 in the ranger and running. will i need a different tranny or transfercase.
