V6 Raptor for USA?

24 more cu inches... why bother?

Cause v6 sounds cooler...

325hp/400 lb-ft in a boring run of the mill F-150... I wouldn’t kick it out of my garage.

A coyote sounds better but won’t show it a thing.

And then give it the Raptor treatment to boot like they did the 3.5 in the big raptor... it should motate pretty good.

I'll second the Coyote... let me get out my catalog :yahoo:

I seem to remember @adsm08 bitching about some terrible design flaw with the 2.7 but I don’t remember for sure what it was. Something about the oil pan???

Strictly speaking it isn't a design flaw with the engine per se, just something that was done poorly. They actually fixed it for mid-year 2018.

The 2.7s have a plastic oil pan. In and of itself that isn't an issue, lots of engines have plastic oil pans with no issues. Ford tried using their crap-tacular TA-351 silicone sealer. They claim it is "superior" but when it cures it gets brittle. It also requires surgical levels of clean and prepped surface to actually seal correctly, something the factory can't get right before oil is ever put in the engine, but we are expected to get it right in the field with oil running down the block. They used this stuff to seal the oil pan on the early 2.7s. The way the sealing surfaces have to be prepped also makes the silicone oil pan a one-time use part.

The later ones from 2018.5 up have a gasket. A real live rubber gasket.
