i am in the process of swaping an 8.8 w/ disks in to my 83. has any one used explorer spring plates with the shock mount. i want to add an upper shock mount (competition enginering) and use the explorer geometry. i have searched the forum but cant find anyone who didnt weld in new lower mounts and use the stock uppers. pictures would be great. does anyone have an opinion about what i want to do.

Fyi:

Mine are 94's, but basically the same setup TTBOMK>>>>

I used some 2x4 rectangular tubin cut in half to make the brackets for the top of the shocks and welded them to the factory crossmember:

Here's my green 94's setup other than the fact that I made a new rear crossmember and attached them the same way as the black 94 except at an angle and to the rear:

The setup on the black 94 (92 Explorer 8.8) is usin stock Ranger shocks, and the setup on my green 94 (98 Explorer 8.8) I used front shocks for a 78 Volare. You can use tubin & tabs, up to you. I just used what I had sittin around.:icon_welder:
