Picked up some used wheels today, are the sensors, worth keeping?
If so, can they be removed without destroying them?
My guess is cut 'n pitch.
None of my vehicles have TPMS

You cloud try to sell them. The sensor itself can be removed by popping the little tan plastic retainer out, then release the tab, then the blue (or green, or black, depends on the pressure it was calibrated for) box hinges out of the cradle.

The cradle and band can't be reused.

I guess I don't completely understand the question. I mean, so what if they are in there or not, what difference does it make if they are not used?.

On the other hand, if you put a set of wheels on truck with a TPMS system that does not have them what happens? I could see a problem if you needed them and they were not there. But, not the other way round.

Makes perfect sense to me to remove them if not needed and put 'em up for sale. You never know, someone might take them. Even if your not going to try to sell them, I'd probably still take them out if they aren't needed. Ford had a good idea with the band style sensors, keeping them out of harms way from jiffy lube employees, but unfortunately I have seen a good many of them come off the band on their own and rattle around in the tire causing vibration and eventually destroying the sensor.

some clarification, used wheels only, no tires involved yet.
I need to strip/blast them, so the sensors will come off.
