Does anyone know how to, or if its possible to, remove all of the wiring out of a 2001 ranger except for the engine harness itself. So basically just have the main connector on the driver side valve cover and o2 sensors. All this while still using the stock pcm after getting PATS deleted off of it. Boss wants to build a mini stock and wants only bare essential wiring. Also i already swapped out the stock automatic trans to a manual. I wired in the starter to a seperate switch as well as the fuel pump.

To be honest there isn't much wiring in the engine bay that isn't needed for running the engine. Mostly just lighting and horn. ABS system is needed for the speedo signal.

In the dash harness you have radio and windows/locks etc depending on equipment, but that is really going to be a pain to removed and leave the vehicle functional.

if you wanna keep your wiring to a minimum, you should open the OEM wiring loom, separate all the wires, keep the needed one with the connectors, thus, you are sure to be keeping only the needed

I would just eliminate the Ford PCM

You can use a tunable EFI system and a Ford EDIS module for ignition, these can be used with 4, 6 or 8 cyl engines.

Google: MegaSquirt
And MegaSquirt EDIS

This is a Brand but there are a few others that can be setup to do this, so look around and see what "tickles your fancy" and wallet

Thats what i was afraid of. I looked into mega squirt a few times. I haven't done any ems systems in years and even then it wasn't extensive. So i am a little hesitant. my background is mainly fabrication.
