UrbanRedneckKid's Build Thread

That's ridiculous! I got my complete '75 EB front-end for $200(IIRC maybe $150), complete hub-hub w/ all the suspension mounts torched @ frame. And that was in Jersey, before I moved out here where stuff is cheaper.

Damn that's cheap

I got my whole HP FW complete minus the locking hubs for $400 :(

Thanks again for the nom! If I win I'll return the favor. If not it's your fault, haha.

How am I supposed to guarantee that?? There's just too much good competition...
Maybe I could make fake TRS memberships to boost voting... :icon_idea:

Good news! My buddy rolled his 04 F350!

He's ok, truck is done. He gave me first dibs on the axles.

Just haven't decided if I wanna rebuild the Ranger on FW tons, or move on to the Explorer project...

At this point I think I might move on from the Ranger after 8 years. Build I nice family wheeler so my daughter will be able to go wheel with us. Maybe put the Rangers powertrain drivetrain and suspension in a B2, just for a beater.

Thats kinda what im looking to do with mine... Take the geared ranger axles and put em in a B2 for trail riding and build my ranger on the set of tons i have.

Or I could convert my 88 to 4wd. Put it on 33"s with the 5.14 axles from the 94. The 2.3 would love that.

Turbo 4.0 or 5.0 swap?

That's what I've been pondering lately.

The latest addition to the 351w swap parts... Shifters!
UrbanRedneckKid's Build Thread

Oh yeah, I did mention something about a 351w...
My uncle gave me a what was left of a 87 F-350 he bought for the axles. 351w with 15k on a rebuild, 30k on a rebuilt AOD, t-case and driveshafts.

Now just need headers, oil filter stuff, mounts, and hydro steer stuff.

I do have 3 questions...

*Does anybody know about putting GT40-P heads on a 351, if it's worth it?

*Camshaft recommendations? Stock but .030 over, w/ or w/o Explorer heads, Torquey, 1200ish- 5000ish range. Looking at Comp Cams #35-235-3

*Can anyone actually confirm, or deny, that the truck intake will hit the firewall? I'm perfectly OK with needing a cowl hood, cause they are sexy.

Cool someone else is doing a 351 swap. I am in the middle of building up my engine right now. Fullsizebronco.com has a ton of info about the engine and different possibilities for the cam. The ford speed density is very picky about cams. Anything with a lobe separation angle under 114 with make it run like shit because it won't have enough vacuum to run the speed density. If you want to run a big cam, everyone recommends just swapping in a mustang maf setup from 5.0 fox mustang. That is what I am deciding to do.

Also from everything I've seen, I don't think there a set of headers you can buy that will clear in a ranger. I bought a kit to make my own. Everything I've seen either dumps the exhaust into the firewall, frame rail or steering shaft.

I'm not sure if you have a body lift or not, but I'm pretty sure your upper intake will hit the good. You can adapt a shorter fox 5.0 upper intake to your stock lower with bcbroncos adapter.

If you have any other questions hit me up, ice done a lot of research

I'll look into the cam deal.

I'm not worried about headers, I plan to countersink an orbitrol valve in my firewall. Full hydro steer. No shaft and no box.

I have no body lift. But my concern is the firewall, not the hood.

Well if you are going full hydro you won't have that issue haha. Not sure about the firewall, you probably will have to massage it with a hammer. Fullsizebronco forums has a sticky thread about speed density friendly cams.
And I forgot to mention, gt40 heads are a common swap, just don't get the gt40p heads with the angled spark plugs

I have a351w in my 91 ranger and man what a battle its been. Older ford car manifolds clear every where and dump right where you need them! I went carb on mine just to get it rolling but the truck upper plenum wont clear the hood.as for the firewall a 2" bodylift does wonders and isnt noticable but the ac/heater box is the devil to get just right. You can look at my build thread if you like, and ask any questions, ill be glad to give input

Do what you can, when you can, with what you got and dont worry about the rest!
