I’m new to the forum. I purchased a 99’ XL 2wd ranger recently and have been repairing/replacing items for the last couple weeks. I purchased new upper/lower ball joints, an arm bushings, shocks, shock insulators, tie rod ends to restore the front suspension before getting bringing the truck back to the alignment shop. They were unable to do the job the first time due to the components being so worn out. Long story short I was unaware that my upper an arms were non serviceable style. It sounds like there were serviceable arm offered too. I’ve searched online and checked with my local Oreilly auto with no luck finding the serviceable uppers. Does anyone have a clue where I can find a pair of uppers? Thanks

Uppers that have the option of a replaceable ball joint are mix and match. Nobody lists them, they just list the upper arm and it’s luck of the draw.

Autozone has a lifetime warranty on the upper arms which means for as long as you own the vehicle though so that’s my usual choice because if it’s not serviceable I can still warranty it when it wears out

for 98+ there are differences between coil spring suspensions and torsion bar.
the upper control arms are different. coil arms are shorter, the ball joint has a smaller diameter stub, and the ball joint is not serviceable.
they are readily available, be sure to specify coil spring.

From the looks of those, they are original to the truck, From factory they were non-serviceable. So for the first go round you have to replace the entire arm, when my grandfather had that work done on his 98, i *think* i ordered the serviceable ones from MOOG (this was 9 years ago)

Some aftermarket arms have serviceable ball joints and some don't. More don't than do. It seems the default is to just replace the entire arm. It is usually easier, though not necessarily cheaper.
