hi guys i have a 99 ranger 4x4 auto with the pulse activated hubs.. i just picked up a 94 ranger with a solid front end instead of axle shafts.. what sort of benifits would i have swapping to this setup or is it even worth it?

thanks dylan

your 99 is ifs. when you say you got a 94 with a soild front end do you mean SAS or ttb. if its ttb then dont even try swaping it in. if its already SAS then swap it in and be happy with it. major flex compared to ifs

Nothing swaps over from the earlier TTB equipped rangers to the later IFS rangers.

he was calling it a double i beam suspension... and i already know that ill have to be cutting and welding for it to work

It isn't feasible. And a lot of fab work. Can it be done? Yes. Should it be done?

That depends on what you wanna do. Are you gonna rock crawl? Or just pound pavement for the girls? Or somewhere in between: go hunting to remote dirt roads? What size tires.....enlighten us.

The HP D35 TTB axle is pretty stout, and only marginally weaker than a solid axle D44 (when properly modded).

For the amount of work though it is to swap it in, I wouldn't do it. Its not a common swap, and so not a whole lot about it has been documented. And the strength gains from the LP CV style D35 IFS to the HP D35 TTB isn't going to be lightyears ahead.

For that amount of work, I'd probably go with the much more satisfing, stronger and simpler HP D44 swap, with a FW axle narrowed down to 59.5 WMS to WMS and be done with it. That's JMHO though. :icon_thumby:
