I have a 1990 ford ranger extended cab and i'm wondering the best rbv axles to swap in there?

4.10 8.8LS(or Locked if you wanna do that) is in my opinion the best swap you can do, but there are others who will disagree.

well depending on what you have for a motor and if it was made early 90 or not...thre is a 90% chance you have a dana 35 in the front....dont need to swap that out unless you want a solid axil that never came stock in a RBV...and for as the back...swap in a 8.8 rear with disc from a 95+ exploder

I have the 4.0 the truck needs some work (bought it for $700) but anyway I'm moving up to 33's pretty soon, and I just want to keep things fairly close to stock just for yucks for now and I want to try and make my d35 stronger hopefully would it be possible for it to run 35's in the future? and keep the d35 without grenading it?

Someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but if you have the 4.0 then you have the best axles offered in a ranger. The d35 and a 28-spline 8.8. These should both be capable of 35's, i think? The rear could be swapped out for 31-spline 8.8, from an explorer, if you wanted a little extra insurance and the 95 and newers have discs as already said.

The D35 and 28-spl 8.8" should be fine with 35s with a few small upgrades (look through the RBV axle upgrades post at the top here).

You'll want to swap to a better gear ratio though (4.56 for 33s, 4.88 for 35s).

Thanks for a ton of help and clearing that up for me
