Okay, for those not familiar with SVT, I have a 96 ranger 4x4 with the factory 4.0L (long gone), had true Dana 35 twin piston calipers up front with drum out back. For those that don't know, 95+ rangers use the same brake master cylinder as the 95+ 4 wheel disc explorers, so upgrading the rear to disc does not require a MC change...However I am going from a 4 piston braking system (2 each wheel on fron) to an 8 piston braking system (2 each on all four corners), I am basically using the brakes from a 2000 F250 from both axles. I am upgrading to a hydroboost unit and MC from the f250, but here is my question...I will be flowing close to 4 times the factory rate of brake fluid through the factory lines. What do you think/ideas/opinions/criticism on upgrading the 3/16 brakeline to 1/4 or even 5/16 to compensate?? I realize that I will still be able to flow the same amount, but in theory it will take longer for the fluid to reach the calipers, meaning a slower braking response. By increasing the diameter of the lines, it should increase braking response by reducing the friction loss from flow in the lines...

You think about the extra pistons in there using a bunch of fluid. The pistons move very little the amount the rubber seal backs it up on its own.The thing doesn't really work on volume it works more on pressure. If it moves to much fluid I bet the brake pedal going uncomfortably far will be the first symptom not the hoses.

Brakes work on pressure, not volume.

larger lines flex more and would only create "long pedal" issues.

Some Race cars actually go to 1/8" metal brake lines because of the better pedal feel

But I wouldn't recomend going to that extreme
